300 CNG stations closed down in Punjab due to non-supply of gas

Islamabad: The All-Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) has said that more than 300 compressed natural gas (CNG) filling stations have been closed in Punjab, while thousands are on the verge of economic failure due to partial supply of natural gas and irrational pricing.

The number of closed down CNG stations have been increasing creating problems for the masses, increasing unemployment and decreasing the income of the government, said APCNGA Supreme Council Chairman Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha.

In a statement issued here, he said that the natural gas allocated for CNG industry is being diverted to other sectors so that their profits could increase. He said that CNG industry is being deprived of natural gas despite the fact that it is the only sector which has no other alternative while other sectors have substitutes.

US T20 cricket tournament abandoned due to weather




DALLAS: American cricket T20 team competition which was held in Dallas was abandoned due to inclement weather.

The sixteen teams’ competition was reduced to 8 teams for the quarter final stage when the tournament was abandoned.

The prize money of twenty five thousand dollars was equally distributed among eight teams who qualified to quarter finals.

According to details the T20 cricket tournament was organized in Dallas with special permission from ICC (California) America.

This cricket tournament was participated by Sri Lanka, West Indies, India, USA and Pakistani international players.

Pakistani players Shabaz and Naveed Latif attended the tournament as special guests as the PCB did not allow them to play in Dallas.

Some of the Pakistani national team players who participated in this tournament included, Shabbir Ahmad, Mansoor Akhtar, Shahzad Hasan, Saud, Sharyar Ahmad, Khalid Latif, Noorul Qamar. Indian player Sharma, West Indian Andrew Paul, and other prominent players also attended the tournament.

The tournament had sixteen teams contesting for the final cup including Star Eleven, US Open Florida, AFL Gladiators, Smart Choice Houston, Punjab Lion, and Alumina Cricket Club Chicago, Punjab (India) 20/20, Mama Cricket Club Houston, PIS Royal, Royal Cricket Club, Midland Club Midland, and GTCC.

The bad weather and raining for the whole week forced the organizer to abandon the tournament before the final.

The prize money of twenty five thousand was equally distributed among the finalist’s teams.

Posthumous Michael Jackson album due out May 13




NEW YORK: When Michael Jackson´s record label released his first posthumous album in a year after his 2009 death, producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins was asked to work on the project.

He declined.Years later, the hitmaker who worked heavily on Jackson´s 2001 comeback album "Invincible," says he´s finally comfortable again producing the King of Pop´s music.

He produced the title track from the upcoming album, "Xscape," out May 13.Says Jerkins: "I had a personal relationship with Michael, (so) it was about, ...´What would he want it to sound like now?´""Xscape" was executive produced by Timbaland and includes songs Jackson recorded in the 1980s and 1990s.

Some of the tracks are taken from early recording sessions for successful albums such as "Bad" and "Dangerous."

Cate Blanchett, who won the best actress award at the Oscars for ‘Blue Jasmine’, almost missed her big moment as she was drinking at the bar with fellow nominee Julia Roberts.
Blanchett revealed that she lost a track of time while chatting to ‘Pretty Woman’ star, reported Daily Express.
Blanchett said, “the blessing and the curse of this (best Actress award) is it happens at the… end of the eveningand so you watch so many other extraordinary people get up there and you lose track of the fact that you’re even nominated.
“And then you get taken by surprise, ‘It’s my turn’, and I was with Julia Roberts in the bar for rather too long and just got back to my seat in time.”
