Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has called a meeting of the
government and Taliban negotiation committees today (Saturday.
Sources said the meeting of the two committees chaired by the interior minister would be deliberate over the future strategy for talks with the Taliban Shura and the agenda. The meeting would also review the outcome of the earlier maiden meeting of the government committee with the Taliban Shura.
Talking to Geo News, Taliban committee member Professor Ibrahim said that the process of confidence building measures has started with the meeting of government committee and Taliban Shura. He hoped the process of releasing prisoners would soon begin.
Professor Ibrahim said both committees would soon be proceeding to the tribal areas for holding second meeting with Taliban Shura. He said that the agenda of the meeting would be restoration of lasting peace by making the ceasefire permanent.
