Civilian, military leadership on same page for development: PM

Gwadar: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Thursday that the civilian and military leadership was on the same page for development in Pakistan.

During a meeting over a development project, Prime Minister Sharif expressed commitment to turn Gwadar into a free port like Hong Kong and Singapore.

Earlier upon his arrival in Gwadar, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was welcomed by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.

The prime minister arrived at the PNS Akram Base alongside federal ministers Ishaq Dar and Ahsan Iqbal. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was greeted by Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch and other provincial ministers.

15 of the same family out of 17 killed in Chakwal traffic mishap

CHAKWAL: Sixteen bodies out of the seventeen killed in yesterday’s traffic mishap have been shifted to Qasba Chota Sahiwal of Sargodha on Sunday morning, Geo News reported.

Among the dead 15 persons including three children and four women of the same family are included, whose funeral prayers would be offered this evening.

Sources said 67 persons from a village Chota Sahiwal of Sargodha were on board a mini-truck on its way to Pir Khara Darbar from Kallar Kahar. On a sharp steep turn, the driver lost control of the truck and it fell into a 150-foot deep ditch, killing 17 persons. The driver of the truck was also injured in the mishap.

Chakwal DCO rushing to the scene of incident arranged shifting of the victims to the hospital. He said that majority of the victims of this traffic accident were women and children. More than 40 injured are under treatment in the hospital, while the dead would be buried in Sargodha.

 

All stakeholders on same for dialogue with Taliban: Minister

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Wednesday said that the government, armed forces and law enforcement agencies are at same page on going dialogue with Taliban.
"There is no harm to include Pakistan Army in the dialogue process with Taliban," the minister said this while talking to media persons outside the Parliament House.
Khaqan Abbasi said that by including armed forces in the dialogue there are more chance to achieve success in the negotiations as Pakistan Army is completely aware about the ground reality.
The minister said that the government is committed to maintain peace in the country and every possible step would be taken to get success in the dialogue with Taliban.
