Dutch pacer Jamil restricts Proteas to 145-9




CHITTAGONG: Career-best bowling by Netherlands pacer Malik Ahsan Jamil put obstacle for South Africa in scoring freely as they were restricted to 145 for nine in the 20 overs in a Group-1 match of the Super Ten Series in the World Twenty20 here on Thursday.

Netherlands captain Peter Borren won the toss and asked South Africa to bat first at the at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

However, South African batsmen could not play well against the Dutch bowlers except opener Hashim Amla who hit a breezy knock of 43 runs off 22 balls with seven fours and a six.

Only four other batsmen – captain Faf du Plessis (24), AB de Villiers (21), David Miller (17) and Jean-Paul Duminy (12) – could get into the double figures.

Jamil captured five wickets for 19 which was his career best bowling figures in T20 international cricket.

This was also the best bowling figures by any bowler from an associate member against a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
