Taliban hand over list of 300-400 prisoners: Sami

NOWSHERA: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) chief and head of the Taliban negotiation committee, Maulana Samiul Haq, on Thursday said that the Taliban would conditionally release the Islamia College University Vice-Chancellor, Ajmal Khan, and other important personalities.

Talking to reporters at the Jamia Usmania, Jalozai, he said that the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was also expecting the release of important militant commanders. He said the Taliban had handed over a list of 300 to 400 prisoners to the government committee, which would be presented to the Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. He said the two committees were expected to meet again today (Friday).He said the government would confirm all the names on the list, which would take some time, adding that the Taliban had mentioned the names of places and villages from where women and children had been allegedly picked up by the spy agencies.He added a peace zone was needed where representatives from both the sides could take part in the peace talks, adding that the peace zone would be announced in the next few days.
