Minister sticks to his guns

Says some quarters disliked his statement; army, judiciary should not be criticised
LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that some quarters disliked his recent statement about the armed forces but he sticks to his viewpoint on the issue. He however said that the judiciary and military should not be criticised.

The federal minister, speaking at a ceremony here on Sunday said, “the judiciary delivers justice while the army ensures our security,” adding that the armed forces and judiciary are sensitive institutions.

The armed forces of Pakistan were in a war with terrorists, he added. However, Saad Rafique reiterated that the nation would condemn it whenever the army was found involved in any unconstitutional step.“The army’s professional and lawful role is acceptable. But the nation will condemn whenever there is any unconstitutional move,” he told reporters.
