Musharraf fails to get permanent exemption from court appearance

ISLAMABAD: Rejecting ex-President Pervez Musharraf’s plea for permanent exemption from court appearances, Additional Sessions Judge Wajid Ali on Saturday summoned him on May 3 in the Ghazi Abdur Rasheed murder case.

The judge was hearing the murder case of Lal Masjid cleric Ghazi Abdur Rasheed.

Akhtar Shah Advocate filed the exemption plea with the court stating that his client Musharraf was facing life threats, as he was targeted while being shifted from hospital to his Chak Shahzad Farmhouse.

Lal Masjid Shuhada Foundation lawyer Tariq Asad Advocate said the former military ruler could be summoned after making appropriate security arrangements.

After hearing the arguments, the court exempted Musharraf from Saturday’s hearing, rejecting his plea for permanent exemption.
