SC suspends notification declaring Ludhianvi winner from NA-89

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) suspended the notification declaring Maulana Muhammad Ahmad Ludhianvi of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) as a winner from Jhang NA-89 on Tuesday, Geo News reported.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Sheikh Muhammad Akram.

He had challenged the notification issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), declaring Ludhianvi as the winner after Akram was disqualified for allegedly being a loan defaulter.

The bench, while suspending the ECP notice, issued notices to all the parties in the case.
