MIRANSHAH:
Three persons were killed and two others injured in fighting between two
rival tribes over a property dispute in the Dattakhel area of North
Waziristan Agency on Sunday.
Local villagers and officials of the political administration said two sub-sections of the Wazir tribe had been fighting for quite a long time over ownership of land in the Lowara Mandi area of Dattakhel tehsil near the Afghan border.
The villagers said armed men from both sides had taken positions in the mountains and were using heavy weapon against each other. Three people were killed and two injured in the clash on Sunday, they said.
Fighting was still going on and the two sides targeting each other’s positions with rocket propelled grenades. The local administration has not been able to take note of the ongoing fighting and loss of life.
Earlier, two tribes in Shawa Tehsil near Mir Ali also clashed over ownership of land. Both the sides used heavy arms and ammunition for a month and closed government and private schools but the administration failed to intervene and play its role in saving precious lives or resolving the land dispute.
