Kerry expected to travel to Iraq 'soon': US sources

WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State John Kerry is expected to travel to Iraq "soon," congressional sources said Thursday.

There was no further information about when Kerry might visit the country amid a militant offensive.

President Barack Obama earlier announced a new diplomatic initiative saying he was dispatching the top US diplomat this weekend for talks in the Middle East and Europe.

PPP, MQM forming alliance to thwart peace talks: Taliban sources

KARACHI: Taliban sources have claimed that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in Sindh are engaged in making alliance in a bid to thwart peace talks.

The Taliban sources said that during their one-month ceasefire Sindh government continued to arrest Taliban activists and tortured them in prison.

Musharraf’s mother in critical condition: sources

DUBAI: Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s mother is admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a Sharjah hospital, where sources said that her condition is critical.

Doctors said that her treatment would continue in the ICU, the sources said.
