Bollywood debuts to watch out for in 2014

02
Sana Khan- Controversial model and Bigg Boos 6 contestant Khan Sana Khan will make her Bollywood entry with her debut in Salman Khan’s Jai Ho where she plays a pivotal role. Sana who has done many commercials came in the limelight for the Amul Macho ad she did which was banned by the Indian government on grounds of sexual profanity. Sana’s next big ticket to stardom was reality TV show Bigg Boss of which Salman Khan himself is the host. Dabangg Khan soon signed Sana for Jai Ho and we hope Sana is in the news for her acting rather than her controversies.

Athiya Shetty- Star Kid Athiya Shetty, daughter of Suniel and Mana Shetty will soon maker her debut opposite new comer Sooraj Pancholi in 2014. The untitled film is said to be a remake of the Jackie Shroff starrer Hero and will be produced by film maker Subhash Ghai and Bollywood star Salman Khan. There were rumours that Athiya would debut with Jackie Shroff’s son Tiger Shroff but these rumours were soon put to rest. Audiences will have to wait and watch if Athiya’s chemistry with Sooraj works at the Box office and is she has that X factor in her to make it big in Bollywood.

Tiger Shroff- Jackie Shroff’s son Tiger Shroff has been making headlines even before his debut. The actor, who has been working very hard on his body to get a chiseled look, will make his Bollywood entry with Sajid Nadiadwala’s Heropanti. Directed by Sabbir Khan, the film also stars Kriti Sanon and Sandeepa Dhar. Tiger has developed an enviable physique and it is believed that the young gun even trained Aamir Khan for his body in Dhoom 3. He sure looks promising!

Daisy Shah- Former model and assistant choreographer Daisy Shah will make her debut in 2014 opposite none other than Salman Khan. Daisy Shah is plain lucky as she has the opportunity to work with Salman Khan in brother Sohail Khan’s production Jai Ho. Daisy who has already made her debut in the South industry will be making her big Bollywood entry in January 2014 when Jai Ho releases. It remains to be seen if Daisy will be a one wonder hit or go on to make a niche for herself in the industry.

Salman Khan started the worldwide 100 crore club with 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun..!'. It was the first Bollywood film to cross 1 billion worldwide. After that, time and again the star has created many records on the Box-Office through his charismatic appeal. Years later, the star again mesmerized movie goers with 'Dabangg'. For those who celebrate the pleasure of mainstream masala movie lore, 'Dabangg' was the greatest getaway of the season. The movie earned huge moolah not only in India but also worldwide with a total sum of Rs 215 crore! Not bad.

The romantic comedy of Salman and Asin in 'Ready' made the film the second highest opening-day grosser, as well as the second highest weekend grossing Bollywood film, after 'Dabangg'. In India, 'Ready' opened to an overwhelming response at the Box Office and packed cinema halls with single screens reporting nearly 95%–100% occupancy, while multiplexes reported 60% to 100% occupancy. The film collected 130 million rupees on its first day of business, thus becoming the second highest opening-day grosser across India after 'Dabangg'. 'Ready' also held the record for the eighth highest grossing Bollywood film ever made domestically.

Salman Khan’s 'Bodyguard' had inculcated all the vital elements for the crowds milling, cheering and growing nearly hysterical in this trademark Salman film. This essentially means a high-on-testosterone Salman, a pelvic-pushing Salman, a devil-may-care Salman, a can-do-anything Salman, a human tornado Salman, a goofy-in-love Salman, and yes, above all, a shirtless Salman. As a result, the film opened to a phenomenal response at the domestic Box Office and packed cinema halls, "witnessing 100% occupancy across shows". The film netted a total of 25 million US dollar in India at the end of its run.

'Ek Tha Tiger' was more evolved and entertaining with Salman'isms'. His unbelievable stunts make you believe that Bollywood's answer to Spider Man, Superman and Batman; is Sal 'man'. His eponymous secret agent avatar scours the world in search of enemies of the nation and dispatches them to the devil without breaking into a sweat! The film opened to extremely strong Box Office collections and Box Office India declared it a "Blockbuster. It was the most successful of Yash Raj Films' releases and became the third highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time. The last Katrina-Salman romance thriller earned Rs 310 crore world over.

'Dabangg 2' sees Salman Khan reprising his role as Chulbul Pandey, a police officer in Uttar Pradesh who styles himself after Robin Hood, robbing from the bad guys to help the needy. If the success of the movie has confounded the critics, they can agree on one thing: 'Dabangg 2' is Salman Khan and Salman Khan is 'Dabangg 2'. The success of the movie again cemented Salman’s Box Office power and helped it to earn Rs 250 crore worldwide.

Vidya Balan: She is the powerhouse of Bollywood, only if she could add some mind power to her dressing too. Though Vidya Balan's 'Rekha inspired look' could never be missed, she just fails to put it all together whenever she goes beyond her trademark sarees.
