ISLAMABAD:
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Senate
Secretariat and Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) Secretariat.
Secretary Senate, Amjed Pervez Malik and Secretary General of APA Dr. M.H Nejad Hosseinian signed the MoU in this regard.
Aim of the MoU was to establish a provisional Secretariat of APA.
The
Secretariat has been established for enhanced coordination between the
Central Secretariat in Tehran, Iran and to chalk-out a line of action in
accordance with the charter of Central Secretariat of APA besides
making the forum more robust to take measures for growth and prosperity
of the member states.
It is pertinent to mentioned here that
Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari was elected as President of
the APA for two years during the 6th Plenary of APA held in Pakistan
last year in December.
The conference was hosted by Senate
Secretariat in which nearly 230 parliamentarians from different Asian
countries participated.
