Farhan Akhtar opts out of Shah Rukh starrer

According to India Today Bollywood actor-producer Farhan Akhtar will no longer be sharing screen space with superstar Shah Rukh Khan in his forthcoming home production ‘Raees’.

Akhtar, who was supposed to play the role of a police inspector in the film, opted out of the project due to date issues.

The 40-year-old actor had committed himself to Bejoy Nambiar’s next film, in which he will be appearing alongside Amitabh Bachchan.

Moreover, the production on ‘Raees’ has been postponed from September to October due to SRK’s recent injury on the sets of ‘Happy New Year’.

The film will be directed by Rahul Dholakia and produced by Excel Entertainment.

So much so, that we see reports stating how Farhan's next release after Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Shaadi Ke Side Effects has done highest ever business in East Punjab.

Punjab is said to be one of the most difficult territories to appease. We have only seen the Deol's working there. Before this, it would just be their films being highly and positively received there.

For the first time, it is a non Punjabi, Farhan Akhtar's film to get such a huge reception in Punjab.

So, it was not just Bhaag Milkha Bhaag that did extremely well there, but Shaadi Ke Side Effects is also being immensely appreciated there.

When contacted, Farhan says, "I'm overwhelmed with the kind of response that the film has been getting." Adding more, his spokesperson says, "Farhan is elated that he has been able to break into the Punjab market with aid from his previous role of Milkha Singh. The movie was close to his heart and he's happy that his current movie, too, is doing very well."
