Gone are the days when media was snubbed: Pervaiz Rashid




ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that politics and journalism have entered in era where there is rule of law, Geo News reported.

Addressing a ceremony of Photo Journalists Association here, Information Minister said “Gone are the days when freedom of media was snubbed”.

He said Pakistan is recognized as civilized and democratic state today, adding that the society, state and political parties had transformed themselves after learning lesson from the past.

The minister said it was admirable that the affectees of the current situation were following the law and constitution, and contacted PEMRA. He welcomed the submission of plea as per the constitution.

ISLAMABAD: The Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, said on Friday gone were the days when the freedom of the media was stifled.

Speaking at a function here under the aegis of the Rawalpindi- Islamabad Photo Journalist Association, the minister said that today politics and journalism had entered an era that was known for the rule of law and Pakistan was identified as a civilised and democratic state.

About the events unfolding in the wake of an assault on a prominent media person Hamid Mir, he said it was a welcome development that those feeling affected had adopted a legal course and filed a complaint with Pemra.The minister maintained the incumbent government did not believe in politics of confrontation.
