ISLAMABAD: The roaming facility of five Afghan mobile phone companies has been blocked due to which more than 45,000 Afghan SIMs have stopped functioning in Pakistan.
A TV channel quoting sources reported that the SIMs were blocked due to their use in terror activities and cases of abduction for ransom. The respective operators have also submitted a report to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), which had issued orders for blocking these SIMs for an indefinite period.

It merits mentioning here that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had issued directives to the PTA on June 21 to block the Afghan SIMs in Pakistan. Security agencies had also given recommendations to the premier for blocking the Afghan SIMs.
