Masses to foil plots to destabilise country: Nawaz



 












LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday said that the masses would frustrate the attempts being made to damage national solidarity and destabilise the country, adding that those organising sit-ins and protests did not want to see a developed and prosperous Pakistan.
He was confident that terrorism would be completely eliminated enabling the people to live a peaceful life.Nawaz also made it clear that justice was being ensured in the Model Town tragedy probe and the culprits would not be able to escape punishment.

Sources in the PML-N said the prime minister expressed these views during a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at Raiwind as the two leaders discussed issues related to the ongoing North Waziristan operation, the arrival of Dr Tahirul Qadri, overall political situation of the country, Model Town incident and other matters.

The chief minister briefed the premier on the progress made in investigation into the Model Town incident. Nawaz directed Shahbaz to fix responsibility at all costs and bring the culprits to justice while implementing the report of the judicial commission without any hesitation.

He said the country required unity amid the military action against terrorists, as everyone must back the armed forces in their efforts. He added that the people would foil the designs of those trying to damage national cohesion and strike at the country’s foundations and Pakistan would continue its journey on the road leading to development and prosperity.

The Model Town incident and the arrival of Qadri in Pakistan were also discussed in the meeting with an special emphasis on security arrangements. Sources said the chief minister shared the details about the formation of a joint investigation team. Later, Punjab IGP Mushtaq Sukhera also joined the meeting and gave a briefing on the investigation process and the steps being taking to guarantee security after the arrival of Qadri.

The prime minister ordered exposing those damaging the PML-N government’s repute and said some elements were not able to digest the development projects and the revolutionary steps taken to get rid of loadshedding. However, people knew their reality. Nawaz directed the provincial government to ensure that the departments concerned closely monitor the law and situation, as no one should be allowed to harm citizens and their assets.
