ISLAMABAD: The European Union Election Observation Mission’s report on Pakistan’s 2013 elections reveals facts that belie the claim of Imran Khan and Shireen Mazari, the

Information Secretary of PTI.

The report measures election coverage in multiple categories, including: a) rallies and press conferences; b) time allocated to political actors during Prime Time programming; c) direct speech/quotes within news; and d) political advertising.

The EU’s report shows that in rallies and press conferences category, the PTI got the highest coverage from Geo News, which is almost twice as much as the second channel in this category — Express. (Approximations from graph shows: Geo 6,250, Express 3,500, ARY 3,000, Dawn News 2,750 ).

In time allocated to political actors in Prime Time programming category, again the Geo News gave the PTI the highest share compared to all other satellite news channels (Geo 21%, ARY 18%, Express 17%, Dawn News 16%).

In the category of time allocated to political actors in news, the Geo News gave the PTI the highest share, doubling almost the figure of the second highest. (Geo 32%, ARY 17%, Express 16%, Dawn News 16%)

In the category regarded direct speech within news, the news channel which gave the highest share of its coverage to the PTI was Geo News with 25%.

However, in the last category measured by the EU — time allocated to political advertising, the PTI gave more advertising air time to Dawn News, ARY, and Express than Geo News. Though this could be because of Geo’s rates are higher as its viewership is also higher.

According to third party ratings agencies, Geo News has three times the net viewership of the second most watched news channel of Pakistan for which there has historically been a tie between three channels. If one takes into account the net ratings and net viewership impact, it is safe to say that the PTI got most of its message out during the elections courtesy Geo News.

However, Shireen Mazari, Information Secretary of the PTI, for some particular reason, is convinced that Geo was involved in rigging the elections 2013 against Imran Khan.

Imran Khan on May 20 tweeted a graph, rallies and press conferences category (mentioned above), which was from the same EU report. Imran alleged that Geo gave more coverage to the PML-N than the PTI and referred to Geo’s bias. However, the very same graph shows that the PTI itself got more coverage from Geo than any other channel.

Also regarding the PML-N, it can also be seen from the same graph that every channel gave more coverage to the PML-N in that category, including Dawn, ARY, Express and others. The reason for this could be multiple, including the organisational skills of the party at the time, quality and number of candidates, experience and how it was polling in survey after survey at the time. Khan did not, however, tweet the other graphs mentioned above in the EU report.

The EU Elections Observation monitored the media outlets from 8th April to 9th May from 18:00 to 24:00 daily.

Khan energized after extended break from boxing

LAS VEGAS: Amir Khan is hungrier than ever to step back into the ring, saying he didn´t want to come off the longest break of his career against an easy opponent.

The 27-year-old Briton will end a 12-month hiatus on Saturday when he moves up in weight to face American Luis Collazo in a non-title fight at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. "I fight everyone," Khan says. "Collazo is a mixture of a boxer and a fighter. He is slick and he knows how to fight. I am a similar style so that is what is going to make this fight exciting."

Khan and Collazo´s 12-round welterweight fight is on the undercard of the Floyd Mayweather-Marcos Maidana 147-pound (67 kg) world title fight. "He is going to give it 100 percent and he is in great shape," Khan said at a news conference. "He will be bigger than me on the night of the fight and at times I will have to dig deep.”

Size and weight will be crucial for Khan in his first welterweight bout. “Trained my way up. I have not ate my way up to this weight. I trained my way up to this weight," Khan said, adding that he´s more comfortable at 147 pounds because he doesn´t have to starve himself to get down to 140 ahead of Friday´s weigh-in. "I feel so much stronger and happier at this weight," he said. "That seven pounds makes a big difference and I have kept all my power and speed."

Khan´s last fight was in April of last year when he won a 12-round decision over Julio Diaz in Sheffield, England.

Just over a month later, Khan got married and now the couple are expecting a baby. After the win over Diaz, Khan took four months off from boxing to spend time with his bride.

Khan (28-3, 19 knockouts) says the time away was good for him mentally and physically. "My body needed a break," he said.

Khan, who turned pro in 2005 after winning a silver medal for Britain in the Athens Olympics, is one of the most exciting fighters in the sport always willing to go toe-to-toe with his opponent. "I am the most exciting fighter in the world," Khan said. "My hand speed is explosive. When I go into the ring I give it my all, and I have been in with the best."

Before the break, Khan was also one of the busiest fighters, especially for the first six years of his pro career.

When he did finally return to the gym eight months ago it was a little different because instead of focusing on an upcoming fight, he just worked on conditioning and fine-tuning his craft. "I had to work on my own style and on things by myself," Khan said. "This training camp has gone really well. I have been working really hard. Even though I haven´t been in the ring in the last 12 months, I have been in the gym training for eight months."

In July, 2012, Khan lost to Danny Garcia in a fight for the World Boxing Council super lightweight crown.

It was his second straight defeat, following a controversial loss to Lamont Peterson. A rematch with Peterson was scuttled when Peterson failed a pre-fight drug test. "Every time I´ve been knocked down I got back up again," Khan said. "I have been stopped on my feet but that is just boxing. I´ve never been knocked out."

Collazo stood on the podium at Thursday´s news conference and said Khan is in for a surprise in his first fight as a welterweight. "Welcome to the welterweight division," said Collazo.

Collazo (33-5, 18 KOs) grew up selling drugs on the streets of Brooklyn. He turned pro in 2000 and won his first world title five years later. He also compiled an impressive 97-7 record as an amateur. "You´re going to see the best Collazo you have ever seen," said Collazo who has been with his trainer, Nirmal Lorick, since he was 12.

Shah Rukh Khan begins work on Fan

Shahrukh Khan, the man unarguably with one of the greatest fan following globally, will now play the role of being the biggest fan himself in the forthcoming YRF movie, Fan. The film begins shooting July 2014 and the actor has begun work on the film. The renowned special effects makeup maestro, Greg Cannom, who started work on developing Shahrukh’s look for the film, spent considerable time at the Studio recently with the actor, Director, Maneesh Sharma and Producer, Aditya Chopra.
Greg, who really doesn’t need an introduction, has been nominated for nine Academy Awards and has won an Oscar three times for the memorable looks he created in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” (2008), “Mrs. Doubtfire” (1993) and “Dracula” (1992), apart from several other prestigious awards. In 2005, along with Wesley Wofford, he received a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy for the development of special modified silicone material used for makeup applications in motion pictures.
Speaking about the look, Maneesh said, “We are attempting a never-seen before look for Shahrukh which will be both challenging for us and exciting for the viewer. Understandably, this will be kept under wraps till the first look of the film is revealed.”
Directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced by Aditya Chopra, FAN has been written by Habib Faisal, and goes on floor mid-2014.

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan feels her elder sister Karisma looks younger than any contemporary female stars today.

“She (Karisma) has two kids, but she doesn’t look like a mother of two. She looks younger than any Bollywood actress even today. She is the most beautiful girl as her heart is of gold. When you see her she looks radiant as ever,” Kareena told PTI.
Kareena, 33, feels Karisma is lucky to have a toned body.

“She has very toned body and she is genetically blessed. I am more of a Kapoor, but she is more like my mother,” Kareena said.

The ‘Jab We Met’ star said she might also open her own fashion label after being the face of many fashion labels.

“It is not a plan or thought in my mind as of now. May be yes, sometime later,” she added.

Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif is all set to be paired with Shah Rukh Khan again for a film. According to the latest buzz, the 'Dhoom 3' actress has bagged the lead role in Shah Rukh-starrer 'Raees'. This is the second time the leggy lass will be paired with Bollywood's badshah after their hit flick 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'.

A Mid-Day report says that Katrina was in talks with filmmakers regarding the role. It seems that she has given her approval for the film. After completing her shoot with Hrithik Roshan for Bang Bang, Katrina will be doing Jagga Jasoos opposite Ranbir Kapoor. She will then start shooting for Raees.

Sources also reveal that since the actress did not have any other film except Bang Bang and Jagga Jasoos, a film with SRK will give her career a necessary boost. While Katrina refused to be a part of the film, director Rahul Dholakia remained unavailable.

Recently Raees was in news when it was reported that Nawazuddin Siddiqui replaced Farhan Akhtar in the film.

We don’t need any reality show to prove our love: Gauahar Khan

The 30-year-old actress, who will again be seen with Kushal in upcoming TV show 'Khatron Ke Khiladi' after their stint in 'Bigg Boss', says she does not need any reality show to keep their relationship going.

Gauahar Khan might have expressed her love for actor Kushal Tandon on a reality show but the actress now wants to keep her relationship private.
The 30-year-old actress, who will again be seen with Kushal in upcoming TV show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ after their stint in ‘Bigg Boss’, says she does not need any reality show to keep their relationship going.
“We had expressed our love for each other on a reality show but now it has become very personal. We don’t need any reality show again to prove how much we love each other. Joining the same show together was just a coincidence. It’s not a medium to keep our relationship going. I am just loving the whole idea of being in love,” Gauahar told PTI.
The couple met on ‘Bigg Boss’ and love blossomed between the two on show, which Gauahar won.
The ‘Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year’ actress says she is happy with the way Kushal brings the best in her and helped her on the Colors’ stunt-dare reality show.
“Kushal is one of the best human beings I have ever met. He backs me up whenever I need him and at the same time he keeps me pushing till I achieve the goal, He helps me to bring out the best in me,” Gauahar said.
The fifth season of ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ will be hosted by filmmaker Rohit Shetty and will have celebrities like Dayanand Shetty, Salman Yusuff Khan, Mugdha Godse, Ranvir Shorey among others. The show will be on air from March 22.
Gauahar says Rohit is the show’s best host, which is based on the American ‘Fear Factor’.  “I took part in the show to overcome every possible fear in my life. And when I heard that Rohit (Shetty) is hosting the show, I grabbed the offer. I feel he is the best host till now. He is encouraging and very big factor for all of us on the show to complete all the task,” she said.
Apart from her small screen commitments, the actress is all geared up to release her first film, whose last set of schedule she will shot soon.

Hrithik Roshan finds a replacement for Sussanne Khan!

Not so long time ago there were reports that Hrithik Roshan will be moving out of his eighth floor apartment in El Palazzo. In the same building, his parents Rakesh Roshan and Pinky Roshan reside on the ninth floor, with a common entertainment area and a gymnasium on the tenth floor. So is the Krrish 3 actor actually moving out of this plush well-equipped home? Well, we hear that the actor will be temporarily moving into Prime Beach Apartments in Juhu. It’s the same building where Akshay Kumar owns his place. And Hrithik moving out has nothing to do with his separation from his wife Sussanne Khan. The actor is moving out as his apartment in El Palazzo is under renovation.

Well, this time around, Hrithik’s apartment isn’t being done by Sussanne but John Abraham’s brother Alan Abraham will be renovating it. Hrithik’s estranged wife Sussanne is an interior designer, who has not only designed several celebrity homes but also his El Palazzo apartment before.

Well, does Hrithik want no reminders of his relationship gone kaput which is why he replaced Sussanne with a new designer, we wonder. Anyways, as per reports, Hrithik is allergic to dust and that’s the only reason why he is moving out while his place gets renovated…

Is Salman Khan not backing Armaan Kohli’s Bollywood comeback?

The former Bigg Boss contestant’s Bollywood comeback seems to have hit a rough patch

Rumour had it that Armaan Kohli was to star as Salman Khan’s brother in Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. However, it looks like those were just rumours as now we hear that Mr Kohli was never offered this project. Apparently, Bollywood’s own naukri.com (Salman Khan) had suggested to Barjatya that Armaan be included in the project. But it seems that the filmmaker didn’t pay any heed to Sallu’s request at all.

“Salman did suggest that Armaan be included in the film, but there was nothing beyond that. Some overzealous people went ahead and announced that Armaan was essaying the role of Sallu’s brother in the film,” a source was quoted by a tabloid.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo will go on floors in May and the cast includes Salman along with Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher, Swara Bhaskar, Deepak Dobriyal and Samira Rao. Yes, the official star cast doesn’t include Mr Kohli’s name in it. “Sooraj Barjatya did not approach him for any role. Armaan has not even spoken to anyone at the production house. He only knew that Salman had recommended his name. He was taken aback when the news came out,” a source close to Armaan said.

As you will know, Armaan doesn’t have a Bollywood career to boast about. Having all flop films in his resume, the man surely needed a good comeback to look at a fresh lease of life in B-Town. And there is no denying that a movie with Sallu would have done wonders for him. But looks like the lady luck (Tanishaa Mukherji) is not proving to be so lucky for Mr Kohli.

Shilpa Shetty To Imitate Aamir Khan?

Shilpa Shetty's upcoming TV show Sone Ka Dil is about the lives of the heroes who have helped others in need and will also help to throw light on social causes. Shilpa will not only host the show, but will also produce it along with her husband Raj Kundra.

 

Sounds remarkably similar to Aamir's show Satyamev Jayate? "The creative team has conducted extensive research; and Shilpa will soon shortlist a few unsung heroes fro m across the country. These are people who have helped the underprivileged. One cannot deny the fact that this show shares some similarities with Aamir Khan's show, Satyamev Jayate," a leading tabloid Mid-Day quoted a source as saying.

 

A crew-member however denies it, saying that Soney Ka Dil will be completely different. "Apart from discussing social problems, our show will honour the person who has worked for people's betterment; we are looking at giving them gold medals/coins. We will also promote the NGO, and both Shilpa and Raj will be donating money from their own foundation as well," said the team-member to Mid-Day.

 

Shilpa and Raj Kundra have always been known to cash in on popular trends (IPL, Super Fight League) so it's not surprising that they have jumped on to the social cause bandwagon as well!

Sooraj Barjatya's film with Salman Khan finally gets a title!

Whatever Bollywood's heartthrob Salman Khan does becomes news. Not only is his character in Sooraj Barjatya's upcoming film called Prem, the name that made him very popular in Bollywood, but his name will appear in the title of the film too.
A Mid-Day report says Sooraj is naming the film as Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. The shooting of the film will commence from May and about 70 percent of the film is going to be shot in ND Studios, Karjat.
The cast includes Sonam Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Swara Bhaskar. The film will release on Diwali 2015.

Though Deepika Padukone's wish of working with superstar Salman Khan did not work out, the Bollywood diva is not complaining. If reports are to be believed, the pretty actress will soon work with Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan for a movie.

A Filmfare report says that Aamir and Deepika might be soon paired with each other for a movie to be produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment. Further to reports, though the filmmakers are secretive about the project, Deepika is already on a high and has agreed to do the film with Aamir.

With the most talented actor being paired with the top heroine of Bollywood, this movie will definitely rock the box-office.

Vote intelligently, says apolitical Aamir Khan

 

Aamir Khan is guarded about sharing his views on any political party and when it comes to the new Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) the actor-filmmaker prefers to wait and watch. Meanwhile, he has urged the youth to step out and vote intelligently in the polls.

At a press conference at his residence on his 49th birthday Friday, Aamir was asked which party he is favouring and he said: "I am not supporting any political party's campaign, nor do I support any political party."

"It's a democratic country and I believe each person should take their own decision and must go out and vote intelligently," he added.

Looking fit as a fiddle, the "3 Idiots" and "Dhoom 3" actor believes the youth especially must cast their vote.

"Every person of voting age should vote," he added.

Asked to comment on Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP, Aamir said: "AAP is a new party. Let's see what they do. As I said, I don't support any political party, but if there's an important cause, we all come forward."

True to his word, he is raising various issues on his well-researched chat show "Satyamev Jayate".

Aamir had earlier lent support to Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement.

We say so coz in a recent interview, the Chaar bottle vodka singer said, “My song ‘Lungi dance‘ had the potential to go global in a big way like Gangnam style but the makers of the film had different plans for it. Finally, it didn’t go the way I had envisioned.” Well, not every song can be as big as Gangnam style, right? Also, one big reason why Gangnam style went viral in 31 counties is coz of its quirky video. Now that explains why Lungi dance wasn’t a rage worldwide, no?

Maybe Honey Singh is upset coz his special song in CE brought SRK, Deepika Padukone and even Rajinikanth in the limelight but not him. Lungi dance was his song but it ended becoming Khan, DP and Sivaji’s actor’s number. We could be wrong but then we fail to understand why is Honey Singh complaining all of a sudden.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is very much impressed with filmmaker Subhash Ghai’s next directorial venture ‘Kaanchi.
Salman, who watched the recently released trailer of romantic drama ‘Kaanchi’, said the film has been beautifully shot. The Dabangg actor tweeted: “Saw the promo of kanchi ? Quiet nice na? Happy fr S G, its beautifully shot, Hope it does well. Best of luck S G.”
‘Kaanchi’ marks the debut of a new face Mishti in Bollywood. The actress looks beautiful playing the role of a bold village girl who courageously takes up the fight against power and injustice.
She eventually falls in love with a village boy, played by Kartik Aaryan of ‘Pyaar Ka Panchnama’ fame. Produced by Mukta Arts, ‘Kaanchi’ also features Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Rishabh Sinha and is slated to hit theatres on April 25.

Aamir Khan lodges complaint with Mumbai police

Bollywood star Aamir Khan has registered a complaint with the Mumbai police in the wake of a defamatory campaign against him on social networking website Facebook. The "malicious messages are wrong and baseless", he has said.

Aamir Saturday met Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria and Joint commissioner (law and order) Sadanand Date. The officials have assured swift investigation and action. The Cyber Cell of the Crime Bureau will investigate the case, said an official statement.

Aamir made his TV debut with "Sataymev Jayate" (SMJ) in May 2012 and the show, dealing with sensitive social issues like female feticide, domestic violence and child abuse, received a warm welcome from the TV viewers after it went on air on Star Plus. Some of the episodes dealing with female feticide and malpractices in medical field recorded the highest ratings.

It has been alleged in the messages on social networking site (https://www.facebook.com/AwakIND/posts/10151964856603531?stream_ref=10) that that when at the end of the show, Aamir asks for donations for Humanity Trust, the money is used for masjid construction assistance and placement assistance for Muslim youth.

Aamir took to his Facebook page and clarified that he is associated with Humanity Trust, Hanspukur, West Bengal, not the other Humanity Trust.

"False and malicious messages are circulating through various electronic media. including WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and other social media networks, alleging that donations are being sought in my television program 'Satyamev Jayate' Season 2, in relation to an entity by the name of Humanity Trust, which is claimed to be working in the field of Masjid Construction Assistance and placement assistance for Islamic youngsters. This is entirely false," Aamir said in his March 7 post on https://www.facebook.com/aamirkhan.com.

"I would like to clarify that 'Satyamev Jayate', in Season 1 was associated with Humanity Trust, Hanspukur, West Bengal, a charitable hospital run by Ajoy Mistry and his mother Subhashini Mistry. Humanity Trust, Hanspukur, West Bengal, is doing excellent work in the field of health care and provides free medical facilities to the poor. "Please note that Humanity Trust, Hanspukur, has nothing to do with Humanity Trust referred to in the malicious messages. I would like to clarify that all donations sought in SMJ are used and channelized for entirely deserving and secular causes, contrary to the content of the highly mischievous/malicious insinuations in the messages, being circulated by vested and unscrupulous interest."

"These malicious messages are entirely false, wrong and baseless. I categorically deny that SMJ has anything to do with Humanity Trust as stated in the malicious messages or that we have called for donations in the name of the said entity. I urge the members of the public to disregard the said malicious message," he wrote.

He also urged viewers to seek information on all NGOs featured on the show on websitewww.satyamevjayate.in.

 Mumbai: Actor Aamir Khan lodged a complaint with the Mumbai police on Saturday over alleged “malicious” messages circulating on WhatsApp and social networking sites about the source of donations for the second season of reality show Satyamev Jayate.
According to Aamir, the messages wrongly claim the donations are being sought by Humanity Trust, which is involved in masjid construction and finding employment for Muslim youth. The actor, on his Facebook page has clarified that the show is actually associated with another organisation with the same name based in Hanspukur in West Bengal, which specialises in charitable and free healthcare in rural areas.
“I would like to clarify that all donations sought in SMJ are used and channelised for entirely deserving and secular causes, contrary to the content of the highly mischievous/malicious insinuations in the messages, being circulated by vested and unscrupulous interest,” said Aamir.
On Saturday, he met the crime branch chief, joint CP where he submitted a written complaint following which a preliminary inquiry has been initiated.
“We have accepted a written application and have  forwarded the case to the cyber crime investigation cell to seek more information. Depending upon their findings, we will decide whether to register a cognisable offence in the case,” said joint CP  Sadanand Date.
Aamir has appealed to people on Facebook to disregard the “malicious” messages.
